Set my calendar to 1002, and then rolled a d10 for the month. Coming up with the 7th month, Threshing (Late Summer, just after the wheat harvest). Tax day is the 6th of Tithing, so that seems like a good day to start. This is about a year after Berick’s team was wiped out–
–generate my master, Fantasy Name Generators for a name
–UNE for personality: Produce the Poor, Conquer Expertise, Contact Academia–My reclusive master, Tegast of the White Tower, is lord of a small manor, a village of tenants that live in the shadows of the light tower where he dwells. He is a stingy master, and rarely forgives a debt. He even owns a number of goblin slaves to assist in his fields. He seeks the become the indisputalbe master of the arcane, staying in touch with his peers, and constantly testing the limits of his abiilty to see that none can surpass him!
–and Roch, his sergeant–agonize the public, guard cowardice, chronicle discrimination- An equal opportunity bully, he likes to harrass the tenants, but he makes sure the human tenants don’t bully the goblin slaves or vice versa. He fought in the goblin wars, and fled from battle. While Tegast knows this, Roch is careful to guard that secret shame from all others.
Then I setup everything in Mythic, with Mendy as the starting PC, Tegast, Roch, the Tenants, and Goblins slaves as NPC’s. Collect the taxes, and deliver them to Caravos as my starting threads.
Generate the weather –it’s cool out, a light wind that rustles the leaves and causes weather vanes to turn a bit. Immersion Roll from DM Yourself focues on skin/touch

Time to paint the scene and begin our tale!
–Threshing 6th, Tithing Day- 5gp, (2 gp per day), 10 day rations, Healing Potion, Healing Kit 10 charges–
There is a cool breeze this morning, and I repeatedly have to tuck loose strand of hair back inside my hood. It keeps trying to fly into my mouth as I speak. Two more farmers approach Roch and I. I saw them standing in line and was dreading this conversation.
“No Florian, take those animals back! You owe 50 crowns for your rent, but I don’t need a yoke of oxen or a horse fit for only for the butcher and tanners. You know I have to take our taxes to the capital, and I don’t want to be a drover!” I warn the men as they bring the animals forward.
Roch laughs at my dilemma. Florian tried this last year too, knowing that whatever plow animal he offered up for taxes would have to be leased back to him in order to have it be worth anything. He thinks he’s clever like that!
“Gold and silver, or we’ll kick you off the manor and hand your house over to someone else. They’ll get your late harvest you daft fool! You, your wife, children and brother will all have to find a new home. Nobody wants a troublesome tenant” I warn over his protests of unfairness.
“Ach, I thought you were one of us. You grew up on the shores. You know how hard it is to find coin, or have you forgotten!”
–Intimidation challenge- Florian rolls 14 vs my 19–
“I haven’t forgotten, but you have. The weather has been good, the harvests full, and you’ve sold grain by the bushel, wool and hogs to the caravaners on market days. Less you’re a wastrel, you’ve got the coin. Hand it over!” I sneer as he reluctantly pulls a pouch from beneath his tunic.
As Florian ans his brother walk away with their animals, Roch notices I am shaking, and laughs, “It’s always funny watching you get flustered like that. Master will be proud. He’d have been prouder had you turned the lout into a frog or something.”
“Don’t even joke about that,” I warn. And as if on cue, a fly bumps up against my ear, and I have to swat it away…with a shudder. “Hate those things.”
-Thread Update: Taxes are collected. Scene Change- I report to the master in his library. Immersion roll-Social interaction-
–Scene: I head upstairs with my ledger, to show our master that taxes have been collected, or fines, food deliveries and late payments arranged.
–Scene altered-Positive– He smiles as i enter, and says, “I have a gift for you”
I head upstairs with my ledger, to show our master that the taxes have been collected. I’ve had to levy some fines on some of the tenants who didn’t have enough today, but were certain they could make good after the barley harvest next month. I had also worked out who would be supplying fresh produce each month, and meat for the larder. As I set my book on the master’s desk, he looks up at me, a bit of mischief in his eye.
–I ask a series of questions regarding his view of me..As a daughter-no, strictly a pupil? exceptional no, as a friend-yes–
“Mendy, over the years, you have been a good friend, and confidante to me. This trip to Caravos will be your last duty to me, as my apprentice. I am releasing you from my service once our tribute is delivered. And with that in mind, I have a gift for you.
–Magic item-no (darn it!), Is it a book-yes, I look at the Donjon website for ideas
The old man slides an ancient, leather bound book across his desk towards me. My eyes grow wide as i wonder what mysteries may lie within!
“The Compendium of Tosi the Evoker. Her knowledge of arcane weapeons was legendary, but…this knowledge is far beneath me now. I have read it a number of times and find nothing new, but you my dear? You have much to learn, and Tosi can instruct you as you travel the world on your own. Use it well, but…make sure you tuck your hair back before you open it. I’ve lost a few whiskers to this book myself,” he chuckles, with a gleam in his eyes.
Eying him suspiciously, I take the book into my hands. It is heavy, the leather warm and supple, with elemental symbols etched deeply into covers. I tuck the strand of hair back out of the way once more, as I delicately open the cover. A gout of flame erupts from it and i jerk backwards. Tegast laughs! “I warned you!”
I laugh in wondrous delight as the flame subsides and the letters of the first page glow like embers in a firepit. “The Flaming Path…” I whisper as i trace the letters. Next is the “Path of ice..” as I flip through the book, tasting hints of the secrets within. “Thank you master! I will treasure this, and learn from it, as I have from you.”
He waves me off, “Be off with you now. You and Roch have a long journey ahead. You’d best prepare yourself. I hope that when you return to me, you will have grown in knowledge and wisdom. Remember your lessons frog, even the hunter is prey.”
